NIGER DELTA WOMEN'S DAY OF ACTION 2019
Some women in the Niger Delta region have demanded urgent steps to mitigate the devastating effects of climate change causing environmental pollution in the region.
The women under the aegis of Kebetkache Women Development and Resource Centre made the demand at an event on Tuesday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

WOMEN INITIATIVE IN CLIMATE CHANGE
Women Initiative in Climate Change (WICC) is a network that was formed as aresult of Kebetkache project with Global Fund for Women. WICC sensitizes women and campaigns with them against oil extractive activities that contribute to climate change as women are most impacted by climate change in their livelihood and health. The aim of WICC is to raise a mass of women who are aware of the concept and effects of climate change and push for positive ways to reduce and survive the ever changing climate of the world.

OIL/GAS COMMUNITIES DECRY HEAVY MILITARY PRESENCE, GOVT NEGLECT
For a long time the Niger Delta oil and gas bearing communities have decried the heavy military presence in the region. The Executive Director of Kebetkache, Emem Okon, on the 13th of September, 2020, welcomed participants to the programme to discuss their concerns on the oil extractive activities in their communities.
